Kave cafe opened just over a year ago in the West Village on Washington Street at Horatio and they serve a truly excellent latte. In the summer months they also make their own gelato which can be enjoyed in a tiny garden behind the cafe. A very Italian experience indeed.

The rooftop at the Hotel Chantelle might be on the best kept secrets of the LES list. The space can be enclosed in the winter or during inclement weather but inside it is reminiscent of a European cafe with street lamps between each table. Here are some sliders some friends and I sampled for a charity event we are hosting there in a few weeks. Lamb, pulled pork and beef with white cheddar.
